my incorrect answers were 11 & 15

Questions for dummies.

Okay I’m not a non-musician but I was curious about this test. Been doing music for 13 years and I got all correct =)

I got two wrong. The last one and the third to last one. I guess thats okay

10:30. the answer is d4, that is NOT in the scale. the scale is c3, ascending to g, a, c(4), g, c, e(5). d4 is not in that fucking scale.

I've always thought I wasn't musically gifted and have never played an instrument, but I got 15/15 and it was pretty easy I thought. Maybe I should pick something up.

I got 12/15. Wrong answers were 11, 13, 15. I was in two minds about question 11 and the last question. I thought this was pretty interesting. Thanks for posting!

Well, I am a professional musician, and I missed 4 of these. The last question is VERY difficult unless you have perfect pitch. I will argue 12 because it is subjective. However, there is no way on #6 you can tell a non-musician that the 7th fits into a minor triad. It is NOT A, it is B. The note does NOT fit to a non-musical ear - and even to a musical ear, it isn't fair to say that your standard is that you're allowing 7th and 11ths and 13ths. So your test is highly subjective and very flawed.

12 of 15 spent 8 years in band.

Question 13: does not sound resolved at all

While I understood all the questions, I answered 13 and 14 incorrectly. Yet I still feel I'm musically astute.

At a simplistic level this is pretty good. But it's open for broader interpretation. Fits vs clashing can be challenged within the context of jazz, impressionism, the overtone series, as well as in the context of presentation as accented or unaccented passing tones. Or different types of appoggiaturas, or augmented 6ths. Many notes combinations may clash in one setting, don't clash in other settings. Instead of clashing, they become the natural forward motion of the music.

80% - I missed three…#4, #9, and #13.

the final question... I got it wrong and I am wondering, was the single note the same note as the sequence just in a different octave? is that how you say they are the same, because for the life of me I am not hearing that exact note in what you played. probably because I do not have perfect pitch but I'd really like to know. Also you didn't tell us what our scores may or may not 'mean;

12 but I still believe I have an ear for music, got the first 10 correct then struggled, I can recall every nuance etc on a record I haven't heard in years when I hear it again

I got 14 right 😁 I knew I was musically inclined. I can hear a tune and pick it out on a piano or guitar within 5 mins of playing around. I've never had classes I just taught myself to play a keyboard and read simple music when I was 8 years old. Thanks grandma for that keyboard when I was 8 😂

My only issue was question 8 and question 9... I guess I don't know when things fit or clash.

Not bad 14 out of 15, the last one was my only wrong answer, I’m an amateur quartet singer and am a karaoke junkie

Thank you for explaining the difference before ask the question. I do not read or play an instrument. Number 14 was the one that I missed. I would say it sounded as a no comment answer if there is such a thing in music. Thank you for time.

Ex singing coach. If you speak and inflect whilst doing so you are unlikely to be tone deaf. If you speak in one tone you are likely to be... DEAF. Hence for tone deaf read deaf. I had a student who rang alarm bells as soon as I heard him speak. Every word was an A flat. Literally just A flat. He sang and every note was A flat. But he said he could hear. I told him to go to a doctor and request a hearing test and if he was told he was NOT DEAF he should return. He booked his appointment but never returned. I guess I was correct. Sad😢

Never encouraged on an instrument either...had to raise their spawn...but once in a blue moon, I could go to my gf's house and her parents encouraged me to play her piano...she took lessons and was learning Moon River...i followed the chords and got really good, we moved...never had another opportunity....to play or sing...but at almost 75, ill still wail to the oldies...get some strange looks driving around...😂❤

That was indeed fun, and also very encouraging. I scored 11/15, so I'm a little above the average. I always thought I was way below the average - and that's probably true. Your test is just too kind. :-)

I got 12 correct answers - consistently, I am missing those with pause of 5 seconds lol.
